UN SDG Competition
I participated in a four-day business competition as part of the UN SDG Global Jam, focused on tackling global challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The competition centered on three specific SDGs: Goal 10 – Reduced Inequalities, Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production.

I participated in a four-day business competition as part of the UN SDG Global Jam, focused on tackling global challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The competition centered on three specific SDGs: Goal 10 – Reduced Inequalities, Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production.
On Day 1, we were introduced to the judges, mentors, and coaches, and given a detailed overview of the challenge. Over the weekend (Days 2 and 3), we worked intensively in teams from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, brainstorming and developing our ideas. Our team selected SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities as our focus. We proposed an innovative Recycling Waste Management System for real estate properties—specifically targeting apartments and condos. Our model included managing, processing, and repurposing recyclable materials, which could then be sold to businesses to create new, useful products, thus closing the sustainability loop.
Throughout the weekend, we developed an empathy map, business model canvas, PESTEL analysis, and a comprehensive pitch deck. On Day 4, I was responsible for designing and presenting our final pitch to the panel of judges.
Our team placed fourth overall in the competition and received positive feedback for our concept, along with a $300 reward and a participation badge. This experience was incredibly enriching—it boosted my confidence, enhanced my teamwork and business presentation skills, and inspired me to participate in more innovation-driven competitions in the future.
